Fall Sports Roundup

Cross Country

The boys cross country team won 7 overall meets and finished second at the regional, qualifying for the sectional.  There were several individual accomplishments for the boys cross country team.  Jacob Bryan,  Dalton Melvin, and  Kevin White were all named to the WCC all conference team.  Jacob Bryan brought home 10 first place finishes and a Regional crown.  He qualified for the state cross country meet for the second consecutive year and brought home an impressive 8th place finish at the state cross country meet.  He was the first Illini West Athlete to medal at the state cross country meet.

The girls team improved week to week and were all running their best times of the season by the regionals.  The girls also were able to put together a team score for a majority of the meets this year by all staying healthy and competing, something we haven't been able to consistently do in the past due to low numbers.

Football

The football team qualified for the playoffs for the 10th time in 11 years.  They finished the year 6-4.  Their four losses were to playoff qualifiers, 2 of them 3A and 2 of them 2A.  One of them is preparing for a quarterfinal playoff game.  Several members of the football team made all conference.

Golf

The golf team showed great improvement throughout the year.  Jacob Deitrich was competitive in every meet he was in, winning numerous meets and finishing in the top ten of some of the bigger meets of the year.  He also qualified for the sectionals for the second consecutive year.  Jackson Murphy showed improvement all year long, culminating in a berth at the sectional golf match.

Volleyball

The volleyball team won their third regional in five years.  They were the only team in the conference to defeat Monmouth-Roseville High School in conference play.  They showed great heart and determination all year long.  Gracie McDowell was all conference first team and all tourney team at Southeastern Suns Classic.  Kelly Sirtak was honorable mention all conference and all tourney team as the only setter at the Mercer County tourney. Mackenzie Duffy set the school record for most digs in a single season (665) and in IW history (825). She finished with over 300 more digs than anyone in our conference Kelly Sirtak finished with the highest serving percentage (95.7%) on our team and most assists in conference. Gracie McDowell finished as our leader in in kills, blocks, and service points. Hannah Wood finished second in kills, blocks, and digs this season. The Chargers return a strong group next and be hungry for more post season hardware.
