PARCC
January 20, 2016
Dear Parents:
Illinois is among a group of states participating in the Partnership for Assessment Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC). PARCC is the state mandated assessment given to 3rd-8th graders and some 11th grade students.
The PARCC assessment is an online assessment that measures student performance in Math and English Language Arts. Tests will be administered in March or April, depending upon a finalized testing schedule. Testing should take 3-4 class periods. The good news is that students will be tested in their math and English classes and testing in these areas will not affect any other classes. Illini West will only be testing students with the math assessment who are in Algebra II. The English/Language Arts (ELA) test will be administered to those students in English III or CP English III.
The following is a link for parents to research if you have any questions on the PARCC exam:

Another great website for parents who wish to learn more about the PARCC assessment is found on the Illinois State Board of Education website: http://www.isbe.net/assessment/htmls/parcc-primer.htm. We encourage parents to review this website for additional information.
As the testing window approaches, we will be posting more information about the testing schedule on the district web site (www.illniwest.org). I want to encourage all parents to check the website frequently between now and the beginning of March for updates on this testing program. Please let me know if you have any questions about this new testing program for our students.
Sincerely,
Kim Schilson
