Scholarship Information

Madison L. Finch Memorial Scholarship

The Madison L. Finch Memorial Scholarship is open to any graduating senior at Illini West High School.  It is open to students planning to use their career to serve others.  Applications are available in Mr. Bliss's office and need turned in to him by April 1.  Selected applicants will be interviewed in sometime in April.

Hancock County Republican Central Committee-Jason Pohren Scholarship

To be eligible for consideration you must be a high school senior attending a school in Hancock County, who will attend a higher education such as college or trade school during the 2019-2020 school year.  Applicants must have a B average or better.  Application:  here.

Hancock County Beef Producers Association Scholarship

This scholarship is available to Hancock County graduating seniors that come from farm families and/or plan on furthering their education past the high school level in an agricultural related field.  Applications can be picked up from Mr. Bliss.

Mikhaila Palmer Character Award

The LaHarpe Eagle Boosters and the Palmer Family will be awarding one male and one female 2019 Illini West graduate with a $1,000 character award.  This is open to all 2019 graduates who plan on attending college, joining the military or work force right out of high school.  Applications can be picked up from Mr. Bliss and must be completed and submitted by February 15th.  The winner will be announced at the Annual Spike Out Cancer event March 9th.

Nightingale/Faber Family Memorial Scholarship

The criteria for this scholarship include excelling in the math and science areas and the demonstrated record of performing community service.  Please download the application here, complete, print, and return to Mr. Bliss.

Keokuk Community Foundation Scholarships

Available at the link:  http://keokukfoundation.org/scholarships/     Need to have a GPA of 2.0 or greater and be pursuing a degree in the trades from Southeastern Community College.

Fortress Bank Scholarship

Available to students attending any two or four-year college or university.  Please download application here, complete, print and turn in to Mr. Bliss with all accompanying documents.

Dr. B.I. & Flora Mueller Scholarship

Selection will be based primarily upon academic performance and leadership ability.  Students must be pursuing a career in the health services field.  Financial need will be a secondary consideration.  Please download the application here, complete, and return to Mr. Bliss.  Please, no staples!

Fred & Helen Gibb Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship is intended to be awarded to the student who has a clear vocational/educational goal and possesses the skills and abilities to achieve that goal.  Students must be pursuing a vocational/technical education.  Academic performance in high school and financial need are not primary considerations in awarding this scholarship.  Please download the application here, complete, and return to Mr. Bliss.  Please, no staples!

Ted Irish Memorial Scholarship

Selection will be based upon academic performance, participation in agricultural activities/organizations, and financial need.  Applicants must be going into an agricultural-related career.  Please download the application here, complete, and return to Mr. Bliss.  Please, no staples!

Kyle Johnson Memorial Scholarship

Criteria for selection:  leadership, friendship, citizenship, service, and character.  Finalists will be invited for a personal interview with the scholarship committee.  Please download the application here, complete, and return to Mr. Bliss.  Please, no staples!

Edith Blender Memorial Scholarship

The criteria for selecting makes no stipulation as to which element should be considered most important in determining the recipient.  Recipient must be a resident of Durham Township.  Please download the application here, complete, and return to Mr. Bliss.  Please, no staples!

C. Dannen Latherow Memorial Scholarship

Criteria for selection:  positive personality, academic average of B or better; involvement in school activities, involved in community & church activities; good moral character (willingness to include younger individuals in activities, considerate of others); volunteer/service activities.  Finalists will be invited to an interview with the scholarship committee.  Please download the application here, complete, and return to Mr. Bliss.  Please, no staples!

Lois Bradshaw Memorial Scholarship

Awarding scholarships to any student attending any institution providing further education of either a collegiate or technical nature.  Applicant must be from one of the following townships:  LaHarpe, Durham, Fountain Green.  Please download the application here, complete, and return to Mr. Bliss.  Please, no staples!

John Markey Memorial Scholarship

Great River Friends Scholarship

Available to seniors pursuing a degree in healthcare.  Must have a 3.0 gpa or greater.  Applications available:  https://www.greatriverhealthsystem.org/Great-River-Friends/Scholarships.aspx

IAA Foundation Scholarships

Demonstrated interest and major in agriculture or agribusiness or a closely related field.  Must be an Illinois Farm Bureau member or child of a member.  Application is available:  http://www.iaafoundation.org/iaaf/Scholarships/overview_scholarships.htm

Better Business Bureau Student of Ethics Award (Juniors)

GFWC Performing Arts Scholarship

Scholarships available for students involved in Drama or Music. Application:  application

GFWC Vina A. Miller Memorial Scholarship

Preference given to students majoring/minoring in the conservation field.  Application:  here

GFWC Vocational Scholarship

Open to students pursuing vocational fields of study (i.e. cosmetology, carpentry, culinary).  Application: application

GFWC Lorado Taft Art Scholarship

Great River Quail Forever Scholarship

Open to graduating seniors in Hancock County.  Applications can be found:  here.

Beta Sigma Psi Scholarships Lutheran Scholarship

For male members of any Lutheran congregation, apply online:  http://scholarships.betasigmapsi.org

The Illinois Odd Fellow-Rebekah Scholarship Award

Students from throughout the state of Illinois who wish to attend any post-secondary school or an accredited vocational or technical training school and who have maintained at least a "C" grade average may make application for a scholarship through the Grand Lodge Office in Lincoln, IL.  Student must be a US Citizen, and a resident of Illinois.  Proof of household income is also required.  Applications can be found at:  www.ioof-il.org

Illinois AMVETS Service Foundation Scholarships

Scholarship criteria and applications can be found at:  ilamvets.org   Preference for some of the AMVETS Scholarships are given to children/grandchildren of veterans.  Please read through the criteria completely.

America's Farmers Grow Ag Leaders Scholarship (Bayer)

For students in rural communities who are looking to continue their education in an ag-related field of study.  Application can be found beginning November 15th at:  www.ffa.org/scholarships

2019 FRS Scholarships

All graduating seniors are eligible with a "C" average.  Applicants must also have a genuine interest in returning to a rural community after completing their post-secondary education.  Applications can be found at:  https://www.frs.org/programs/youth-programs/scholarships

Golden Apple Scholarship Program

Available to current high school seniors in Illinois who have a goal of working in high need areas in Illinois as educators.  Student must have a 2.5 GPA in high school and meet the ACT/SAT requirements. Link:  https://www.goldenapple.org/eligibility-high-school-students

Vietnam Veterans Local 947 Scholarship

Student must be a high school senior who will be graduating this year and enrolling in a college or trade school in the fall of 2019.  Student must be a descendant of a Veteran from Vietnam era (VA form DD214 needs to be attached to application).  Also required is a minimum 3 paragraph paper describing descendant's military record and what the military means to the applicant and his family.  Applications can be picked up from Mr. Bliss.

Mellinger Foundation Scholarships

Available to seniors who reside in McDonough or Henderson County.  Scholarships are renewable and can be used at any type of post-secondary institution.  Application and more information can be found at: application

John Deere Technical Program

This scholarship is offered through John Deere and Martin Sullivan for students wishing to pursue careers in Agriculture or Diesel Technology.
