Illinois State Scholars for 2009-10
The Illinois Student Assistance
Commission has announced the Illinois State Scholars for this
year.
The State Scholar
program recognizes Illinois high school students for outstanding
academic
achievement. Illini
West High School is pleased to announce that 14 current seniors
have been
selected. They
are:
Kayla Bess, daughter of Malinda Bess- Melcher, Bill Bess
Allison Dooley, daughter of Rick and Lisa Dooley
Hannah Dorothy, daughter of Chad and Elizabeth Dorothy
Stefan Flynn, son of Shellie Blunt & Kelly Flynn
Maria Gambrell, daughter of Richard & Pam Gambrell
Carl Hartweg, son of John & Linda Hartweg
Jessica Horton, daughter of Dan & Melinda Horton
Kelly Johnson, daughter of Rex and Debbie Johnson
Michael Lafferty, son of Tim and Kelly Lafferty
Natalie Northup, daughter of Harold and Karen Northup
Caitlin Robertson, daughter of Kent and Penny Robertson
Jessica Siverly, daughter of Bill and Marlena Siverly
Shanna Smith, daughter of Gary and Nancy Smith
Sarah Ziegler, daughter of Rowen and Annetta Ziegler
In order to be selected an Illinois State
Scholar Seniors must have taken the ACT examination
between September 1 and June 30 of their Junior year.
Selection is based upon their ACT
test score and class rank at the end of the Junior
year. Students ranking in the top ten percent
of the state’s high school Seniors are designated Illinois State
Scholars. A Certificate of
Achievement will be presented to honor their accomplishment at the
Illini West High School
Honors Night on May 5, 2010. All 14 of the students are
in the process of finalizing their plans
to enter college next fall.
